Just a Heads Up:
The first question a potential customer usually asks is; How much are your t-shirts? I will then launch a series of questions in order to come up with a price.
Below are a few options/questions one has to take into consideration before contacting the screen printer.
(1) Do I need a light color or a dark color shirt?
Dark color shirts need an under-base in order for the print color to show up nice and bright (under-base will add to the price due to flash curing). Light colors do not need an under-base.
(2) How many colors are in my print?
Screen printers charge per color because artwork has to be separated and a negative created for each color, we then have to develop a screen for each color. Screen printers charge a screen setup fee. Currently, we do not charge a screen setup fee for 1 to 2 screens.
(3) How many locations on my shirt do I want a print?
Standard screen printing locations are front, back, left sleeve and right sleeve. Screen printers usually charge 1 extra color for an additional print location.
(4) What color ink do I want my design to be in?
That is your decision. The reason I brought it up is to remind you, light goes on dark and dark goes on light.
(5) Do I have a design?
Hurst Printing creates text design free of cost for our customers. We will email the design to you for your approval before surrendering it to ink. If you have your own design, and your design is a vector file with layers and have multiple colors in the design, there is no fee. However, if your design is not a vector file and has multiple colors with no layers, an artwork design fee will apply.
(6) Is it cheaper for me to buy my own shirts?
No, it is not cheaper. Screen printers get resellers price. We do not make money on blank shirts. We charge for screen printing.
At Hurst Printing, 100% cotton shirts are standard. 50% cotton and 50% polyester (50/50) are also standard in light colors. However, a word of caution. Dye from dark colored 50/50 shirts will bleed into your design-ink when washed, as a result a batch of dark printed 50/50 shirts will have varying color prints.
Deep down in our hearts screen printers try to stay away from dark color 50/50 shirts, but you did not hear that from me. This information was placed on this web site simply as a guide.
